Water-resistant: Water-resistant is not water-proof. Depending on the paper surface, it is possible that the ink could smear if rubbed hard with water before it dries up (i.e. watercolor paper). However, your writing or outline will remain on the paper even if it covers with water. Suitable for daily journaling, note-taking. Best to be used to outline and sketch. Make sure to give it time to dry when sketching before adding watercolor paint to it.
Pigment Ink: The best characteristic of this type of ink is that it is water-resistant and long-lasting. Pigment ink does not dissolve in the ink, it works by floating on the surface of the ink. Traditionally, resin-like ingredients are added to pigment ink to create higher viscosity to prevent pigment particles from sinking to the bottom. However, this kind of method causes clogging in fountain pens.
In order to prevent clogging in fountain pens, water-resistant ink has no added resin-like ingredients. Without such ingredients, the viscosity of the ink has been highly reduced. With the combination of nano-size pigment particles and dispersing additives, the risk of clogging fountain pens with these ink is very low. Because of the characteristics of this pigment ink, always shake the bottle before use to make sure the pigment particles are well mixed. These inks are also fast-drying, therefore, please remember to cover your fountain pens when not using to prevent the ink from drying up and clogging the pen.
In the event of clogging, simply dismantle your pen and soak it in warm water, air dry it and reload with fresh ink.
WARNING: Please test your ink and pen on the paper surface you desired before starting on your illustration piece to avoid disappointment. Avoid watercolor paper as its absorbency will definitely cause the ink to smear once the watercolor is applied. If you insist, please make sure the ink is very dry (24-48 hours or more) before applying watercolor. We do not guarantee the effects of ink on your work due to the characteristics and reactions between ink, paper, and pen. Best use thick smooth paper and let the outline ink dry before applying any wet medium.
Shake the bottle before use.
And make sure you use the pen every other day and keep the cap of your fountain pen or fine liner close at times you are not using to prevent drying up and clogging of the pen tip.
